Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats

By T. S. Eliot and illustrated by Edward Gorey

The verses in this 1982 edition by T. S. Eliot were first published in 1939 and delighted cat lovers of all ages. It was printed by Harcourt Brace Jovanovich publishers, New York. This edition includes the wonderful illustrations of Edward Gorey giving Eliot’s cats a new identity. The interior illustrations as well as the bright orange dust jacket have whimsical cat illustrations by Gorey. The tan and orange cloth boards has a printed copper colored pictorial cat by him as well. It measures 8.25 by 5.5 inches and has 56 pages. The condition of both book and dust jacket is very good. There is some slight wrinkling to the top edge of the reverse side of the dust jacket. This is an excellent copy of a witty, charming book.
