The History Of The Carriage

By Laszlo Tarr

This book by Laszlo Tarr is the first U.S. printing (1969) by Arco Publishing Company, Inc. It was copyrighted in 1969 and published in London and Budapest. It is a study of the structural development of the carriage from its obscure origins in the fourth millennium B.C. to its eclipse by the automobile in the first decade of this century. There are 331 pages with many illustrations and reproductions of mosaics, reliefs, and paintings. This is a fascinating book and is “probably the most thorough book of its kind, and may be the definitive work on the carriage.” The boards are red cloth with slight wear, and the illustrated dust jacket is soiled, but intact. The book itself is in good condition. It measures 10 by 7.75 inches.
